Description
Nicolli was responsible for the design and the installation of the exteriors, as well as many internal elements of the Interspar shopping centre.
The large façade at a tilted angle, with arching horizontal covers and vertical seals, and fully padded with glass panels, is the perfect backdrop for the entrance porch, made of red painted aluminium like the frame of the whole building, and for the rounded sun breaker arches of the south side, also made of aluminium.
On the opposite side are a smaller entrance door and the two “McDrive” tills, featuring fully structural glass.
Transparency is also featured on the inside of the building, where Nicolli is responsible for the large triangular glass work of the entrance porch and the protection parapets flush with the floor and running along the whole commercial area. At the back, a glass wall separating the area from the adjoining burger bar lets the light and the view spread across the whole building. In this same section, a glass and stainless steel finished staircase takes to the basement, joined by an unusual lift, fully cladded with point-fixed glass panels that enhance its technological connotation and ensure full visibility.
Nicolli’s technical office, the design driving force of the company, took on a primary and fully committed role in the realisation of this architectural project, in which the extensive use of glass ensures extraordinary brightness and transparency.
